‎كان الغراب الذي يعرف أنه أسود مثل الفحم، يحسد البجعة ، لأن ريشها  أبيض مثل نقاء الثلج. حصل الطائر الأحمق على فكرة أنه إذا عاش مثل البجعة، و سبح و غاص طوال اليوم وتناول الأعشاب والنباتات التي تنمو في الماء، فإن ريشه سيتحول إلى اللون الأبيض مثل البجعة.
‎لذلك غادر منزله في الغابات والحقول وطار للعيش على البحيرات والأهوار. ولكن على الرغم من أنه غسل وغسل طوال اليوم، وكاد يغرق نفسه فيه، إلا أن ريشه ظل أسود كما كان دائما. وبما أن الحشائش المائية التي أكلها لم تتفق معه، فقد أصبح انحف و انحف، وفي النهاية مات.

A Raven and A Swan
