سنة عطارد قصيرة ومشرقة،
ثمانية وثمانون يومًا فقط في رحلتها.
يقول فينوس، الآن انظر إلي،
مئتان وخمسة وعشرون يوماً، كما ترى.
هنا على الأرض، السنة التي نعرفها،
ثلاثمائة وخمسة وستون يومًا تدفق.
للدوران على المريخ يستغرق وقتًا أطول،
ستمائة وسبعة وثمانين يوماً.
سنة كوكب المشتري ضخمة وكبيرة،
أكثر من أربعة آلاف يوم في متناول اليد.
سنة زحل طويلة بالفعل،
عشرة آلاف يوم يجب أن تستمر.
أورانوس يتحول ببطء وعريض جدًا،
ثلاثون ألف يوم لركوبها.
سنة نبتون بعيدة وعميقة،
ستون ألف يوم رحلتها تستمر.
كل الكواكب واحد تلو الآخر
يدور حول الشمس العظيمة.
تختلف سنواتهم، كما نرى،
عن طريق المسافة والرحلة السماوية.

Mercury’s year is short and bright,
Just eighty-eight days in its flight.
Venus says, Now look at me,
Two hundred twenty-five days, you see.
Here on Earth, the year we know,
Three hundred sixty-five days flow.
To circle Mars takes longer still,
Six hundred eighty-seven days fulfill.
Jupiter’s year is huge and grand,
More than four thousand days on hand.
Saturn’s year is long indeed,
Ten thousand days it needs to proceed.
Uranus turns so slow and wide,
Thirty thousand days for its ride.
Neptune’s year is far and deep,
Sixty thousand days its journey keeps.
All the planets, one by one,
Orbit around the mighty Sun.
Their years differ, as we can see,
By distance and celestial journey.
